Liturgy of the Word for Children

The Liturgy of the Word for Children, which is held the third and fourth Sunday of the month (and the fifth, if there is a fifth Sunday) is a celebration of the readings of the Mass which utilizes the Children's Lectionary, the book of the Church's readings written in language which is appropriate for children.  In conjunction with the readings, various children's activities are integrated to emphasize the message of those readings.

At the 10:00 Mass, children gather in the church, stting near the piano, and are dismissed by the Priest after the Opening Prayers.  They gather in front of the altar, with the leader, and Fr. will give them a blessing.  They then go to the parish hall, with the leader and a parent, and read the child friendly readings.  They return to church to join their families to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist during the Offertory.

All children in Grades 1 - 4 are welcome.  We do not have it on the first Sunday of the month as the hall is being used for CCD.   Parent volunteers are welcome!

On the second Sunday of the month, a Children's Mass is offered at the 10:00 a.m. Mass.  The homily is geared toward families and children.  Children take active roles as readers, gift bearers and greeters.
